One of the hardest things we face as a writer, second only to not knowing what to write, is receiving constructive criticism on our manuscripts. What does this feedback look like when it comes not from our writing partners, but from editors who have an investment in our writing? What are line edits? What do editorial comments look like? What are revisions? What copyright infringements might be challenged? This peek into actual editor feedback from the editing and revising for two now published middle grade novels will provide participants with insights on what’s expected for a finished manuscript. But not to worry—the only death that happens when we submit ourselves to the editing process is the death of an inferior manuscript. And knowing what editors expect in the end, can help us write a better manuscript in the beginning.
