I decided to get serious about my writing passion once my children all graduated from college and moved away from home. Write by the Lake, UW started me on the path to publishing and I even met my editor at Writer’s Institute, Madison. I have a master’s degree in bilingual literacy, with endorsements in reading and ESL and spent my career teaching reading to second language learners in Aurora, IL. When my students kept complaining few books related to their experiences, I promised I would write some, if they would read them. Canned and Crushed—2015, The Gift—2016, and Crossing the Line—2017 are now stocked in my former school, the only place I have celebrity status when I walk down the hall.
