I created 75 three hour classes separated into five week increments – each class included extensive topic information, short in class writing prompts, and homework for a quick writing assignment. In addition to giving workshops on varying topics, I have given workshops in libraries on the north shore of Chicago, at private organizations, in Wisconsin, and in Chicago. In Vermont I was on the statewide board of the League of Vermont Writers. I was VP and President of Off Campus Writers Workshop in Winnetka, IL for years, (200 writer membership/75-year-old continuous non-profit hosting weekly speakers on some topic of writing), Guest Editor for a national literary magazine called East on Central and Newsletter editor for Rural Writers Newsletter. For two years prior to moving to VT I hosted a daily TV show first called Poetry Today then my producer morphed this same show into smalltalk etc. featuring writers, playwrights, actors and other creative people in and around the north shore of Chicago.
I have taught at colleges, high schools, grade schools and am a certified national public speaker. I have also been an actor, having attended Piven Theater Workshop in Evanston, IL for four years, been in a film (“Turkish Coffee”), scenes from Sarah Ruhl plays and improv. I feel pitching to an agent is imparting information in a way that makes the agent want to work with you (part information and part acting – even if you are feeling nervous and not confident, my methods work).
I have three manuscripts ready to be published: “Write Your Memoir in 6 Easy Steps” (how to), “Who We Are” (poetry), “Two Cups of Flour” (writing/recipes from my ongoing rural classes).
