The first major snow fall appeared this weekend here in Madison and Southeast Wisconsin. One of my writing students reminds me that we should look at snow from a child’s point-of-view and embrace it with all of its magic and wonder. Sometimes as an adult, I know I see snow and I immediately think of the hassles it brings – driving mishaps, shoveling, difficulty walking around town, etc. This is a lovely metaphor for how we should approach our writing during this new winter season – see it from a child’s point-of-view and begin writing again. Don’t think about where it may go and what may happen to it, just enjoy your writing for its magic – and wonder.
Keep writing forward…March will be here before we know it.
